About Food Services
Pre-Payment Plan
The Redford Union Schools Food Service Department offers the convenience of a pre-payment plan. This service helps parents avoid the worries of lost cash or forgotten lunch money. Students/families may pay weekly or monthly and apply account credit to which school meals may be charged. Funds may be submitted to your school cafeteria in the form of cash, check or online through Parent Connec t to PaySchools. Parents who do not have ParentConnect accounts established should contact their school secretary for assistance. Handwritten, carbon receipts will be issued for cash pre-payment amounts tendered onsite of $5.00 or more.
Account activity reports can be made available to students/families who question or wish to track activity of their school meals. To request an individual school meals activity report, students/families must contact the Food Service Office, 19990 Beech Daly Road, 313-242-6133.
Meal Benefit Applications
Applications for Free or Reduced Price school meals are available in all schools or from the main office of the Food Service Department, or by clicking here. We encourage all families to apply. Families who were eligible for free or reduced meals during 2010-2011, must reapply for the 2011-2012 school year. Applications must be renewed each school year. Families who are directly eligible for free meals through enrollment in various State and Government programs will be mailed a notice from our Department by the start of the school year. Any parent who is unsure of their meal benefit eligibility status may contact the Food Service Office, 19990 Beech Daly Road, 313-242-6133.
School Meals
All school meals served by the Redford Union Schools Food Service Department are planned to meet or exceed nutritional guidelines set by the United States Department of Agriculture governing the National School Breakfast Program and the National School Lunch Program.
We encourage all families to apply for free or reduced price meal benefits. The application is available in all school buildings, the Food Service Office, or in a downloadable version.
